Here on the right you can see the process from
an initial sketch to the completed painting.
It takes approximately
three weeks from the
under painting to the final detailed image.
Commissions for cats,
dogs horses,rabbits,birds and any other pet are welcome.
Robert Donkor received his Bachelor of Fine Art in 2001
from the University of Central Lancashire. After University,
Robert developed his own unique style and technique for
painting and sculpture.
He has shared his life and home with many different types
of cats and dogs often found in need of care and a home to live.
He can recall a time in his youth when a very ragged
black and white long haired cat was seeking shelter in an old
pram in the garden. Being a young boy and not very brave
slowly and with much apprehension made his way
down the garden path and peeked into the bed of the pram,
the gesture of extreme happiness from the bedraggled cat
stopped him from trembling. He hugged the cat later named
Persia, all the way back to the house; with the permission
of his mother he with his brothers and sister enjoyed many
years of joy with their very beautiful and loving friend.
We receive enormous amounts of affection
from our friends, and have an obligation to keep that joy
and show that repect to others.

The slideshow above is a recent commision from the under-painting through to completion.
This was an interesting painting due to the creative use of the camera by the client and is a very good example of the kind of image you can look for when taking your pets photograph.
Taking the photograph with the pet in a natural position, outside and in daylight with no flash; can have a dramatic and pleasing effect.
